During the early stages of the COVID-19 crisis, only 3 symptoms were considered as the telltale signs that someone had contracted the virus. Those symptoms were fever, cough, and shortness of breath-were. Since then, several new symptoms have been added to the list. If you or a loved one think you may have acquired it, testing at Beverly Hospital’s drive through test site is available. Appointments can be made online at the Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 testing website. For those unable to secure an appointment, same day registration is also available but is limited to supply of test kits per day. Symptoms usually appear within two to fourteen days after virus exposure and it has been reported that individuals have experienced mild to severe forms of them. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the following symptoms may indicate COVID-19 exposure:

- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fever
- Chills
- Muscle pain
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste of smell

It is to be noted that these are the most common symptoms and that there are other symptoms people may experience. These include: nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Know When It Is An Emergency
Beware of COVID-19 additional signs that indicate immediate emergency medical care. If you or a loved one are experiencing these symptoms, call 911 or the Emergency Department and notify them before coming in.
The CDC has listed the following emergency COVID-19 warning signs:

- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion
- Inability to wake or stay awake
- Bluish lips or face
